Cassette is free and open source. Use it for music you have the right to play, on servers you’re allowed to use, and please understand it comes without guarantees.
What Cassette is
Cassette is a music player for iPhone and Mac that connects to a server you run or have access to, such as Navidrome or another Subsonic-compatible server. It doesn’t provide, sell or host any music. Using Cassette doesn’t require an account with us.
The license
The source code is released under the Mozilla Public License 2.0. Your rights to use, modify and redistribute the code come from that license, and nothing on this page limits them.
Your server, your content
You are responsible for the music on your server and for having the right to store and play it, and for following the rules of any server or service you connect Cassette to. Cassette is meant for music you own or are licensed to use.
Beta software, no warranty
Cassette is under active development and distributed as a beta through TestFlight. It may contain bugs, change, or stop working. It is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, as set out in sections 6 and 7 of the MPL-2.0. To the extent permitted by law, the authors are not liable for any damage arising from its use, including lost data. Keep backups of your library.
Name and logo
The license covers the code, not the Cassette name or logo (MPL-2.0, section 2.3). You’re welcome to fork the project, but please give your version a different name and icon so people don’t mistake it for the official app.
Third parties
Cassette isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by Apple, Navidrome, the Subsonic project or any server maker. Their names belong to their owners. When you use TestFlight, Homebrew, GitHub, ListenBrainz or Ko-fi, their own terms apply.
Support on Ko-fi
Contributions on Ko-fi are voluntary and don’t buy features, priority or any service. They are non-refundable, except where the law says otherwise.
